The National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA) Houston 2019 Annual Open House and Membership Meeting held January 10th in partnership with Chevron Black Employee Network was a huge success! Over 100 attendees came out to network and learn about the NBMBAA-Houston, the city’s premier organization serving Black Business professionals, and our plans for the year ahead.
Attendees had the opportunity to hear from Shemika Henderson, Chevron’s Corporate Community Engagement Officer, speak on the company’s innovation investments and opportunities for talent to bring forth their strategic thought leadership in forging the way into the future.
The elected officers for 2019 were introduced along with the committee chairs that shared target goals, roles, and responsibilities for each committee. Attendees then had the opportunity to sign up for the various committees to activate their skills across the Economic Development, Human Resources, Membership, Programming, Public Relations, Student Affairs, Scholarship, and Technology Committees.
As 2019 unfolds, we implore you to get active and engage with a committee. We have events, banquets, programs, and mentoring activities throughout the year and we can also use your support as we host NBMBAA’s 41st Annual Conference & Exposition in Houston September 24th-28th.
Join us at our upcoming general body meeting (GBM) on February 7th, 2019, “Taxes, Investments, & You: Calling The Winning Plays For Life,” where we will help take the mystery out of tax planning and wealth strategies by highlighting success stories in our community. Also coming in February is our 19th Annual Leadership Empowerment Scholarship Banquet on Feb 21st, 2019.
