To successfully manage the programs of the organization, the Houston Chapter is organized into committees and each committee reports into one of the executive officers. Our committees are organized into the following categories, with many committees having sub-committee structures:
Economic Development
The Economic Development Committee acts as a catalyst to help members achieve economic independence and enrichment within the African-American community.
- Organize and execute entrepreneurship-focused programming
- Provide minority-owned businesses with pro bono consulting services (i.e. marketing and strategic plans, business advisory services, etc.)
- Collaborate with Greater Houston Black Chamber to support minority-owned businesses

Human Resources
The Human Resources Committee primarily focuses on educating and preparing members for successful careers through:
- Organizing Professional Development programming
- Providing member resume review and career coaching

Membership
The Membership Committee is charged with conducting activities that fall within what the Chapter calls the three R’s: Recruitment, Retention and Renewal.
- Work diligently to continuously recruit new members
- Encourage members to become actively engaged in the organization
- Communicate with existing members regarding their membership status
- Survey members to capture current interest in programming and events

Programming
The Programming Committee develops substantive monthly programming to enhance the professional and personal growth and development of our members.
- Plan monthly general body meetings
- Organize quarterly socials
- Provide event support before, during and after schedule activities

Public Relations
The Public Relations Committee manages the chapter’s public brand and helps to socialize chapter activities, programs, and events with the external community.
- Identify and create brand ambassadors for Houston Chapter and national organization
- Develop and execute a unified social media strategy
- Distribute communication and facilitate media coverage with news outlets

Student Affairs
The Student Affairs Committee provides programming and support systems to meet the needs of current and potential MBA students.
- Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) High School Mentoring Program
- University Outreach support to African-American MBA and undergraduate business students in the Greater Houston area
- Manages the chapter scholarship program

Technology Committee
The Technology Committee serves as the hub for NBMBAA Houston Chapter technology needs. Our main areas of support:
- Manage Houston Chapter website
