Consulting Initiative

Volunteer to help Houston area minority owned firms transform their business and also hone your business skills.

The Houston Black MBA Association is partnering with the Greater Houston Black Chamber to leverage the skill sets of NBMBAA membership to provide Pro Bono consulting services to black owned businesses in the Houston area.

Through a selective process, Economic development committee accepts qualified Houston Black MBA members as Project Leaders, Deputy Project Leaders, and volunteers.

Volunteer Roles

PROJECT LEADERS
Project Leaders work closely with the minority business owner/designated representative to determine project scope and with the volunteers to guide the work plan. Project Leaders may typically spend two to four hours per week on project work.

DEPUTY PROJECT LEADERS
Most projects will have a Deputy Project Leader who supports the Project Leader by coordinating team communications and assignments. Deputies work closely with the Project Leader and client. Project Leaders and their Deputy decide how to divide up team responsibilities. However, in general, Deputy Project Leaders handle communications and administrative tasks that keep the team connected.

VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers serve as team members and individual contributors on the project teams. Volunteers typically spend one to two hours per week on projects.

If you are interested in participating in this initiative, please complete the Volunteer Application Form to help the Economic Development Committee in matching volunteers with projects.
